MENTORSHIPS

Our private mentorship programs provide dedicated, one-on-one curatorial guidance—transforming raw photographic archives into resolved photobook projects through tailored narrative editing, structural dummy design, and sustained artistic incubation.

  • 📙 Online Photobook Mentorship

A comprehensive, private 1-on-1 project incubator led exclusively by Ephemere founder Anne Murayama, dedicated to developing your photobook from the ground up.

Rather than imposing a rigid syllabus, Anne tailors the curriculum to your project’s immediate needs—whether deepening your conceptual narrative, executing an edit, establishing visual rhythm and sequencing, or drafting digital layouts and book architecture.

Beginning with the core 3-month incubation (15 contact hours across six 2.5-hour deep-dive calls), Anne guides your independent creative practice with targeted assignments and offline reviews, with flexible 1-month continuations and single-session add-ons available as your book evolves. Enrollment is strictly limited to three active mentees at a time to ensure sustained curatorial attention.

    • Structure & Tiers: 3-Month Incubation: $1,500.00 USD / 1-Month Continuation: $500.00 USD / 1-Session Add-On: $275.00 USD

    • Format: Private Online Sessions (2.5 Hours per Session via Google Meet)

    • Intake: By Application Only (Scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays)

    • Availability: Year-Round Rolling Booking

  • 📘 In-Person Photobook Mentorship

An intensive, hands-on working engagement in Tokyo for visiting or local photographers seeking tactile, physical collaboration directly with Anne Murayama.

Stepping away from digital screens, this private 6-hour session leverages the tangible advantages of physical space: laying out work prints across wide worktables, evaluating scale and paper weights, folding structural mockups, and making rapid sequencing decisions side by side.

Sessions are fully customized to your goals, with options to incorporate guided field visits to Tokyo paper merchants and specialty binderies. Available as a Single-Day Focus, Two-Day Intensive, or Three-Day Immersion on rolling dates throughout the year.

    • Structure & Tiers: Single-Day Focus: $480.00 USD / 2-Day Intensive: $900.00 USD / 3-Day Immersion: $1,300.00 USD

    • Format: Private In-Person Sessions (6 Hours per Day, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM JST)

    • Location: Tokyo, Japan

    • Intake: By Application Only (Scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays)

    • Availability: Year-Round Rolling Booking

  • 📕 Online Consultation on Photography and Publishing

A focused, private 1-on-1 advisory session led exclusively by Ephemere founder Anne Murayama, designed as an accessible entry point for artists seeking immediate clarity.

If you are unsure which mentorship program fits your current project, feel unready for a multi-month commitment, or simply need an honest curatorial perspective on a specific bottleneck, this 60-minute call provides direct guidance without long-term obligations.

Whether diagnosing an archive, reviewing an artist statement, or discussing publishing pathways in Tokyo, the hour is entirely tailored to your agenda.

Format: 60-Minute Private Online Session (Google Meet)

    Investment: $100.00 USD

Intake: Direct Calendar Booking (Wednesdays Only)
