My name is Anne, I founded Women in Street Japan in 2020. How are you?

We are opening a new (small) space for photography in Tokyo in the last quarter of the year. I have contacted Casey and Julia about my intention to present Women in Street photographers’ talent and work through a week-long exhibition and a printed publication.

We are looking for: street photos taken in Japan, regardless of your location and nationality.

Kindly fill out the form below to help me gather information from all of you. Initially, we would like to know how many of you are interested in taking part in the exhibition and in the publication — or both. Afterward, we will email you more information.

Overview

1. The theme is "street photos taken in Japan." 2. This project is open to all photographers aged 18 years old and above. 3. Every photographer can submit up to 3 photos only. Previously published work is accepted. 4. Only black-and-white images are accepted. Both digital and film are welcome. 5. Every photo should be at least 1600x1200 pixels, with a resolution of 300 dpi. 6. Submissions will undergo a selection process by Anne Murayama and three guest curators: Satomi Sugiyama, Trey Derbes (Tour Dogs), and Jim Herrington. 7. Inappropriate and offensive submissions will be automatically discarded. AI-produced photos will also be disqualified. 8. There is no participation or entry fee required. However, the selected photographers should purchase their own photobook copies. 9. Upon submission, you grant ephemere. the rights to use your images in all media forms, with proper credit to you as the photographer. 10. The deadline for submissions is on August 31, 2023.

1. Using your own Google Drive, create a folder with the name “ephemere. Open Call #1 - FirstName_LastName”. 2. Rename all your photos as FirstName_LastName01.jpg before uploading them to the folder. Share the folder and choose “Anyone with the link can view". 3. Copy the link and then paste below. Make sure that the link is working. Do not delete or make this folder private until the the project is completed.

Volunteers

We are looking for alumni who can help us during the exhibition week, particularly with manning our (small) gallery and "entertaining" visitors and telling them about Angkor Photo. Unfortunately, we cannot provide travel stipends. However, if you are already scheduled to travel to Tokyo in any of the following dates and would like to offer your assistance, please let us know and we might be able to do the exhibition on that week.
