📖 About the Program
"Is a newspaper just paper for delivering news?" Kyoto Shimbun Printing redefines the "newspaper" as a platform for artistic expression. With the overwhelming mobility to print tens of thousands of copies an hour, impressive art boards, and the unique texture of newsprint paper—they combine these elements with contemporary art and creativity to elevate them into a "tactile experience" that transcends transient information. This program explores the company's challenge of liberating traditional printing technology as a "place for expression" and providing a new platform.
🎤 About the Company
Kyoto Shimbun Printing
Having observed five eras in the historic city of Kyoto, our newspaper printing has played a part in photojournalism, constantly striving to improve the freshness, accuracy, and precision of information to convey the truth to readers. How far can the art of photography be expressed through newspaper printing, which has traditionally conveyed facts? Under the banner of "Redefining Newspaper Printing," they provide a new art platform called "Rinten."
